Samini Choose Ebony Over Kaakie And Here Are His Reasons
It always has been a debate as to who is the best dancehall artist in Ghana both male and female categories. And it will always remain under the pillow, all because each of the dancehall artistes has got the maximum support from the fans and it makes it difficult to predict the best one.
One of the dancehall giants in the music industry has made a comparison between two female artists and has made his choice out of the two as the best over the other.
Ghanaian reggae/dancehall artiste Emmanuel Andrew Samini popularly known in the showbiz as Samini, the multiple award-winner in an exclusive interview with Pulse.com.gh has confirmed that considering the female Dancehall in the music industry, he will always opt for Ebony over Kaakie but still has the early days in his heart.
Samini in his view explained into details the reasons that made him opt for the “sponsor” lady over his own girl.
“Kaakie is my daughter and there will be a limit to things I can do with Kaakie so I will choose Ebony”He also disclosed that he featured in Ebony’s hit single “Poison” but to his surprise, a different version was released.
“I will tell you a secret about her ‘Poison’ track. We actually did the first ‘Poison’ featuring me before the one featuring Gatdoe. We recorded with Brainy Beatz but the one that came out was a kind of remix with a different rapper.” he said.Samini added that he hopes to release his own version of the “poison” track that he recorded with Ebony in a due time.
“So our version is at home on my computer and I might release it. It sounds good to me. I said a lot of naughty things on it,” Samini added. What your opinion about this choice of the reggae/dancehall artist choosing Ebony over Kaakie?. comment your opinions in the comment box below.

Final ‘Most Beautiful’ contestants chosen
After weeks of rigorous grooming and interview sessions, 10 ladies have been selected to represent the nation’s various regions at this year’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) pageant, an initiative of TV3 Network.
The announcement to that effect was made at a briefing hosted by radio and television presenter, Johnny Hughes last Friday in the Executive Theatre of TV3 Network in Accra.
Talking to Showbiz, the longest- serving judge on the pageant’s panel, Mrs. Linda Ampah, said she was impressed with how the ladies had been transformed after the grooming sessios.
“The zeal to be in the final 10 was encouraging. Though it was difficult for us to make the final selection, we are glad we did it. We trust we have selected the best to represent each region,” she said.
She wished the ladies well and urged them to not just work toward the crown but to better themselves.
“The crown is important but it is not about it all the time. They should make it a point to leave the contest better than they so they can be agents of change in our society.”
Auditions for this year’s GMB were held in Tamale, Ho, Kumasi and Accra. The final 10 were chosen out of the 23 that made it to the semi-final stage.
The 10 final contestants are Tsekumah Christine Edem, 24, (Volta Region); Helena- Annabella Asare-Bediako, 25, (Ashanti Region); Shaguffa Pelpuo Adams, 26, (Upper West Region); Ivy Nhanna Serwaa Sefa- Boateng, 23, ( Eastern Region) and Juliet Mensah, 23, ( Brong Ahafo Region).
The rest are Helena Baaba Botchway, 26, (Central Region); Dorcas Asante Afful, 25, (Western Region); Henrietta Naa Ayeley Mensah, 23, (Greater Accra Region); Helen Talata Akongzirigo Azitariga Atinganma, 23, (Upper East Region) and Zeinab Abdul Mumin, 23, (Northern Region).

Stop pretending and be real – Shatta Wale to Stonebwoy
Self-acclaimed dancehall King Shatta Wale has asked his colleague, Stonebwoy to desist from lying about himself and be real for once.
According to him, Stonebwoy is aware of the fact that he is not the leading Dancehall artiste in Ghana but claimed to be when he was asked in an interview in Jamaica.
“We were in Ghana when Stonebwoy went to Jamaica and was asked that how does he rate himself, he said he is the number one. We need to be real. Stonebwoy knows that in God’s name, in God’s kitchen and everywhere else he is not the number one. We should stop lying to ourselves.”
He noted that because most Ghanaian artistes are not real, some have started hating on his ‘militants’ just to stay relevant and that is not healthy for the industry.

Epixode, D-Flex 'fall' for Ebony
“I love everything about Ebony. She is sexy, well-endowed and her eyes and lips just kill me. I believe the two of us will connect well. She is my kind of woman,” D-Flex told Showbiz.
“I will treat her like a queen if I get the opportunity to date her. Though people have said all sorts of negative things about her, I love everything about her,” D-Flex added.
D- Flex real name Abubakar Sadiq Alhassan Dangaata, has featured on songs like KK Fosu’s Number One, Praye’s Paradise and Kwabena Kwabena’s Adam and Hawa.
Now Epixode, who claims Ebony has been a great friend, told Showbiz the two of them are soulmates. According to him, they have a lot in common and bond well.
“I’m not fascinated because of her body or how sexy she looks. I believe the two of us get along nicely and we do the same kind of work,” he said.
Epixode added that Ebony is rising fast due to her determination and hard work and he admires her about that.
Born Theophilus Nii Arday Otoo, Epixode won the hearts of many when he released Avatar featuring Rudebwoy in 2014. Epixode won his first award when he was crowned Africa’s Most Promising Act at the African Youth Choice Awards 2015 held in Nigeria.
Ebony, the lady at the centre of the discussion, told Showbiz she didn’t want to comment on the guys who claim to admire her but she is simply happy to know that people have accepted her music.
“All my three singles: Kupe, Poison and Sponsor enjoy massive airplay, thanks to the fans who keep supporting me,” she said.
She is hopeful her Sponsor song will get her some nominations and probably win her awards at the next Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
“I would not be surprised to win awards next year because people know I have worked hard this year,” she stated

The cedi’s depreciation more than doubled; from 5 to 11 percent
Businesses want government to sustain efforts geared at stabilizing the cedi to foster growth.
Following what they say is the relative stability of the local currency, the businesses fear they will be worse off should the minimal gains be eroded.
A cross section of businesses that Citi Business News has been engaging in a review of the performance of the cedi for the first half of the year point to a positive gain for the period under review.
The CEO of Ghana Home Loans, Dominic Adu tells Citi Business News the company’s cedi mortgage rate has dropped by 44 percent due to the phenomenon.
“If you were to ask us in December what our cedi mortgage rate would have been, I would have told you about 33-36%. As we are speaking, we are talking about say 18-20%. So there has been a significant impact on our cost of taking a mortgage with us which has come down almost close to half.”
BoG data indicates marginal drop in depreciation
Available data from the Bank of Ghana shows that as at the 19th of July, 2017, the cedi had depreciated by 3.9 percent to the dollar while depreciating by 8.7 and 11.8 percent to the British Pound and Euro respectively.
But a year on year analysis of the cedi’s performance shows that the local currency had depreciated by 3 percent to the dollar between July 2016 and the same period this year.
The depreciation went up marginally from 3.8 to 3.9 percent.
In relation to the British Pound, the cedi depreciated to 8.7 percent almost double the rate of appreciation of 8.9 percent in the same period last year.
The Euro on the other hand witnessed a substantial rate of depreciation within the twelve months’ period.
The cedi’s depreciation more than doubled; from 5 to 11 percent.
With the dollar recording the least rate of depreciation, businesses are optimistic of its impact on their operations.
The Association of Ghana Industries’ (AGI’s) second quarter business barometer report indicated that the cedi depreciation came as second least of the top five challenges facing businesses within the quarter under review.
The AGI’s President, James Asare Adjei believes the government could do more for their members.
“Those who are in industry, those who are in other areas of businesses would attest to that fact against the background of a relative stability in exchange rate for well over three four months there have been some seeming stability in our currency,” he stated.
Currency analysts explain
But explaining the underlying reason for this, the General Manager for Treasury at HFC Bank, Joseph Nketiah cited the proceeds from the 2.25 billion dollar bond issued in April as a major contributor to the increase in dollar supply.
“When the government issued the almost 2.5 billion dollar bond, it was a cedi bond but it was paid in dollar that really increased our foreign exchange reserves. So it gave a cushion to the country and it also coincided with the time when the demand for foreign exchange has really gone down.”
But to continue to benefit from this marginal stability, Joseph Nketsia advises businesses to avoid speculative buying which may trigger another round of depreciation.
“There is no need for them to buy dollars ahead as and when they have demand there is enough foreign currency on the market to meet their demand so they shouldn’t panic, they should stay put, go ahead with their proper planning and leave the foreign exchange to the market forces. I can assure them that they will not be overtaken by events. The cedi will continue its stability towards the end of the year.”
Osu Traditional Council has appealed for support to improve the living conditions of the people
The Osu Traditional Council has appealed for support to improve the living conditions of the people.
Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, the Paramount Chief and the President of the Council, made the appeal at the launch of the 2017 Osu Homowo Festival.
It was on the theme: “Our Youth and Education - the Way Forward,” which would start from August 18 to 22.
Homowo is a festival of the Ga indigenes in the Greater Accra Region which they celebrate to hoot at hunger and to thank God for His abundance blessing for a bumper harvest during the year.
Nii Kinka Dowuona said the launch was all-inclusive and a unique one because it would form part of his 10th anniversary celebration since he ascended the throne.
He said youth education was paramount to the Council and that they needed the collaboration and support from institutions like the National Vocational Training Institute, Opportunities Industrialisation Centre, Social Welfare Training Centre and Young Women Christian Association to train the youth in employable skills.
Nii Kinka Dowuona said the Traditional Council, together with authorities of basic schools in the area had formed a school committees, which members comprised of traditional leaders, teachers, assemblymen and opinion leaders to ensure that children stayed in school.
He outlined some of the projects that the Council would undertake as the designing of the Osu Royal Mausoleum; creation of a public square for durbars and Tourism Development Fund.
Nii Kinka Dowuona said activities to take place during the Homowo would include health walk and screening, clean-up exercises, durbars, and sprinkling of “Kpokpoi”, the main meal for the festival.
The Paramount Chief called on individuals and organisations to donate in cash and kind to support their projects and festival activities.
He entreated the citizens to clean their surroundings to create a healthy environment during and after the festival.
Nii Ako Nortei IV, the Osu Mankralo, called on all the people to come together to celebrate the festival in peace.
Afrobeat artiste Felicia Nuna Tawiah
Afrobeat artiste Felicia Nuna Tawiah, known in showbiz as Feli Nuna, asserts that lyrics of dancehall act Ebony’s song ‘Sponsor” are influencing young people negatively.
The song, which has attracted a lot of critisms since its release, tells a story of a young girl who dates an older man who ‘sponsors’ all her needs because her boyfriend could not meet her needs.
Feli Nuna speaking to Joy News’ MzGee, is of the opinion that since music has the potency to influence people, the song is causing some young girls to live by its words.
“I always tell her that it’s her fan base, but I don’t believe in what she preaches. Music is powerful, you think you’re just having fun, just saying some things, but someone lives by your words. So, she knows that the sponsor song, I’m not very comfortable with it.”
The singer nevertheless believes that the song if listened to carefully apart from its obvious message, conveys some positive pieces of advice.
“But the sponsor song has a good message in there…maybe you need magnifying glasses to see deep into what she’s saying…maybe she does have a positive idea in the end, but you have to dig deep.”
Feli Nuna few days ago released her new single which she calls ‘Gelaway’; a female star-studded video which starred personalities like actress and Joy Prime presenter Selly Galley, Joy News’ MzGee, Hitz FM’s Amanda Jissih, Caroline Sampson, Bela Mundi amongst others.
Coaches take bribes from players – Sulley Ali Muntari
Ghana international has alleged that national youth coaches extort money from young footballers before offering them a call up.
The issues of coaches allegedly demanding money before selecting players into the various national youth teams is not a new scandal slapped on the face of Ghana Football.
“Ghana has raw and amazing talents but then most of them have to pay through to get up there” he claimed on Football Legends Night Show on GH One TV, adding “but when I was picked to join the national U-17, I didn’t pay for one penny at that time, so I was just picked because they liked the way I played.
“So we should go back to how it was back then and not about who you know but it’s your talent that will make you move forward and that is what we can do to bring the generation up.
“Look at the players that have played at the youth level in the past, we don’t have them anymore. So we should focus on our youth because there are lots of talents in Ghana but you don’t see in the national team,” the Ex Inter Millan midfielder
